Ivory Homes is sponsoring Guadalupe School in Salt Lake City for this year’s Gingerbread House Festival.  The school is sending staff to help and gingerbread houses from the event will be donated to the school. Ivory Homes also provided gingerbread house kits for a fun project that the children will do at school.

Proceeds from tickets sold will go to help support Guadalupe’s mission to  teach economically disadvantaged children and non-English speaking adults. The school has an elementary school with an after school program. Class sizes are small and so the children get a lot of interaction and help from staff. One of the goals of the school is to catch the students up to grade level. They also want to inspire the children to continue on in their education.

To kick off the festivities, a team from Ivory Homes went to volunteer at the school last week. They helped the children with their homework and played educational games with them. We had a great time. If you want to volunteer, they need assistance from 2:30 to 5pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Or, for volunteers who want to be reading tutors on an ongoing basis, they have programs on Mondays and Wednesdays. Call the After School Program Coordinator Maher Farrukh at (801) 450.6887 or email [email protected] to set up a schedule. Learn more about the school at http://www.guadschool.org/
