Monica is what would be considered a super-mom. For 21 years she has single-handedly raised 3 kids while balancing her career as an elementary and junior high school teacher. Teachers, like Monica, give back to our community everyday by helping the youth grow and be equipped to take on the future. It is important to keep them local to the community in which they play a vital role, which is difficult, with rising home prices.
“As a single mom, it is difficult to afford a nice home,” Monica explained. Home ownership has always been her goal, not only as an investment, but as a place that her children could always come to in order to have a sense of home. Needless to say, amazing people like Monica are the reason Ivory Homes launched their Workforce Housing Program in early 2019. The goal of the program is to help in making home-ownership attainable for our most vital workforce.

“I was able to afford not just a home, but a BEAUTIFUL home that I absolutely love!” she said. “This program made it possible for me to do something I wouldn’t be able to do on my own nearly as easily, and save money at the same time.” Ivory Homes loves to help individuals like Monica, who have a passion for what they do, be able to continue to do what they love while making their home-ownership dreams come true. “I love my job because I feel fulfilled in helping students understand what was always difficult for me as a student,” Monica expressed. “I love to see the light of understanding in students’ faces after a productive struggle and develop positive relationships with them.” She is excited to continue to call Utah home as her family continues to grow; her oldest two children are both expecting their first children, and she is so excited for them. Monica loves to hike, bike, kayak, watch movies and spend time with her family. Any vacation involving water, including the beach, is what she and her kids prefer. Just like so many Utahns, Monica and her kids love living here because of all the unique beauty and recreational opportunities in this great state.
