Ivory Homes is excited to welcome Landed to the Utah market and thrilled they are expanding their down payment program and homebuying resources to the state of Utah.

As the trend towards flexible work continues, many regions once categorized by economists as “second tier” cities for economic vitality have now jumped into the “first tier” as new workers seek places where they can build careers and families with more space. Perhaps no state better exemplifies this trend than Utah. A recent Axios piece highlights how Utah’s three largest metropolitan areas, Salt Lake City, Provo, and Ogden have all jumped into the national top 10 regional “powerhouse” economies.

While this growth may come with obvious benefits, it also presents challenges for local middle-class families who face increasing housing costs. This is where Landed believes they can help by expanding opportunity for essential professionals - employees in education, healthcare, and government - and helping them afford to purchase homes.

The broader Salt Lake City area has been on Landed’s roadmap since our early days when we first looked at which regions have a need for the type of shared equity home financing we provide. And our connection to Utah was strengthened in 2019 when Landed was awarded the inaugural Ivory Prize for Housing Affordability given by Ivory Innovations, a housing innovation institution at the University of Utah's Eccles School of Business.

As a consequence of the recognition Landed received from the Ivory Prize, Landed was contacted in the summer of 2020 by leaders in the Ogden community who were interested in bringing Landed to their area. Specifically, Weber State University’s Office of Economic Development, the Ogden Civic Action Network, and the Weber County Prosperity Center of Excellence were all instrumental in connecting Landed with local institutions. And we are thrilled that the City of Ogden, Ogden School District, and the City of Roy are all joining together to bring Landed to their employees. Following Ogden’s example, we are optimistic that this will be the first of many launches with Utah employers in the coming months and years.

This launch is also unique because it is a part of Landed’s recent expansion beyond education and healthcare to now serve government employees, opening our program up to firefighters, transit workers, and many other municipal workers for the first time. We look forward to supporting and upholding these essential professionals who make cities vibrant, healthy, and safe.

All interested Ogden City, Ogden School District, and Roy City employees can sign up to learn more about Landed at two upcoming info sessions in the next few weeks:
