Ivory Homes is known for building houses that both conserve the earth’s natural resources and save their homeowners thousands of dollars. Through their electric vehicle-ready homes, eco-friendly landscaping techniques, and partnership with UCAIR, Ivory Homes is making a difference in the environment and the lives of Ivory homeowners.

Electric Vehicle-Ready Homes

In 2020 Ivory Homes launched an EV Ready Home initiative. For the past two years, every Ivory Home has been built with a standard outlet for electric vehicles. In addition, Ivory homeowners are eligible for a discounted EV Charger through Ivory Homes’ partnership with Rocky Mountain Power.

Ivory Homes’ partner, Rocky Mountain Power, has set the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 74% by 2030 and 98% by 2050. Rocky Mountain Power is working towards this goal by increasing renewable capacity, energy storage, and transmission. In conjunction with Ivory Homes, Rocky Mountain Power is creating a reliable and resilient energy future.

Eco-Friendly Landscaping

Ivory Homes also saves resources and homeowners’ money through eco-friendly landscaping techniques. Ivory Homes provides each new homebuyer with a water-wise landscaping guide and free classes to guide homeowners through the water-wise landscaping process. These classes are possible through partnerships with local water districts and provide ideas for creating a landscape that boosts curb appeal while also reducing water use. Water-wise landscaping increases the value of each Ivory home, allows for effective and functional space use, makes irrigation easier, reduces water use by â…”, and requires less maintenance than standard sprinkler systems.

In addition to making water-wise landscaping guides and classes available to each new homebuyer, Ivory Homes has installed Localscapes® in many of its new locations. Localscapes® is a series of landscaping patterns and practices that takes into account Utah’s unique climate. At the end of 2021, more than 250 Ivory homes were installed with Localscapes®.

Partnership with UCAIR

Ivory Homes is a proud partner of UCAIR. UCAIR is a statewide clean air partnership founded with the purpose of making it easier for individuals, businesses, and communities to improve Utah’s air quality. UCAIR believes “every small change adds to a collective bigger step toward better health, a better economy and better overall quality of life for all of us.” UCAIR is focused on educating Utahns, providing grants, and inviting participation in order to make a difference in Utah’s Air quality.

UCAIR understands that the first step to changing behavior is understanding. The company focuses on education about why Utah needs to improve its air quality and the feasible steps individuals can take every day to reduce their carbon footprint.

UCAIR also helps make changes possible through its grant program. UCAIR’s grant program rewards organizations for innovative ideas and resourceful planning that lead to a measurable reduction in carbon dioxide emissions.

In addition to closely working with partner organizations, UCAIR also seeks to involve Utah residents across the state in its efforts to improve air quality.  Their website includes simple suggestions for ways Utahns can get involved at home, work, and in the community to help improve Utah’s air quality.  Through Ivory Home’s continued support of UCAIR, Utah will enjoy cleaner air for generations.

Home Energy Rating System Score

New Ivory homes have an average Home Energy Rating System (HERS) score of 53 and are nearly 50% more efficient than the home built ten years ago. With one of the best HERS scores in Utah, Ivory Homes are 17% more efficient than Utah code requires.

The Future of Ivory Homes

By embracing cutting-edge building practices and supporting broader community-based initiatives, Ivory Homes has made significant strides in protecting our planet. In addition to the steps Ivory Homes has already taken to reduce their carbon footprint, Ivory Homes is committed to continuously looking for new opportunities to help the environment. Ivory Homes believes it is their responsibility to make the world a better place, and looks forward to a green future.
