Salt Lake City, UT – Ivory Homes, Utah’s Number One Homebuilder™, announced that Clark Ivory, CEO, has joined the HIVE Action Partnership. This national working group of national experts is charged with improving housing affordability and supporting innovation in the housing industry nationwide.

As the CEO of what many regard as one of the nation’s top local homebuilders, Ivory brings a unique perspective on the industry's challenges and opportunities. For example, since 1991, the increase in housing prices in Utah ranks fourth highest in the U.S. and the state faces a nearly 50,000-unit housing shortage, according to research by the University of Utah’s Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute. This appointment also builds on the recently announced Ivory Prize for Housing Affordability and other initiatives from Ivory Homes and the Ivory Foundation targeted at improving housing affordability. The prize, announced in September 2018, is actively seeking nominations before Dec. 15 with ideas that make a meaningful impact on housing affordability.

“Our children and their children are relying on us to find new ways to make homeownership affordable,” Ivory said. “I’m thrilled to be part of the HIVE Action Partnership as a critical forum for improving housing affordability and pushing for greater innovation in housing not only in Utah, but nationwide.”

Members of the HIVE Action Partnership have been selected from across the business community, finance and academia, and will be led by co-chairpersons Gary E. Robinette, chairman and CEO, Ply Gem Building Products and Peter Goldstone, CEO, Hanley Wood; and facilitated by Frank Anton, chairman emeritus, Hanley Wood. The partnership will help determine priorities and present final direction to policymakers in active pursuit of change in the housing market.

HIVE Action Partnership also plays a key role in the 2018 HIVE Conference, which will be held on Nov. 28 and 29 at the JW Marriott Austin. The conference has a two-day line up with keynote addresses and educational content presented by innovative thought leaders, including CEOs, architects, authors, economists, and educators. Bringing together the brightest minds and talents to address the challenges in housing, HIVE acts as an incubator of forward-looking ideas, inspirations, and inventions that will enhance the way builders, architects, land developers, and place-makers think and work.
