Halloween is just around the corner, but it’s not too late to add a little fun to your Halloween décor.  Recently our design team tried their hand at turning vintage thrift store paintings into seasonal masterpieces.  It’s an inexpensive way to bring a personalized and spooky touch to your home!  

Start by visiting your local second hand store and sorting through the artwork.  Look for paintings that will provide a fitting background or base that could be modified into something autumnal.  Don’t worry if the painting has figures in it, they can easily be transformed into ghosts, witches or other creepy creatures.

Then gather your supplies.  Simple craft store paintbrushes and acrylic paints do the trick nicely.   

Once you have these items let your imagination go wild.  Painting talent is not a necessity.   Adding sheet-covered ghosts and round orange pumpkins is fairly simply and can make an ordinary “scenic” painting into a Halloween masterpiece in no time.

But most of all, have fun and enjoy the “spirit” of the season.
